Who We Are

Emmanuel Church is a growing, family-based, and community-minded fellowship in the seaside town of Fleetwood. We are a Christ-centred missional community with a passion for loving people and transforming lives. Our heart is to be a place where people of all ages Belong as family, Encounter the living God, Grow in faith, and Go in mission.

Established in 1933, 12 years ago we took over a former Methodist church due to our expanding congregation. We are currently renovating the building to create a flexible, user-friendly space for our diverse community.

Who We Are Looking For

We are looking for two key members of our ministry team: a Senior Minister and an Associate Minister. These are distinct but complementary roles, working together with the wider Leadership Team to help Emmanuel grow into all that God is calling us to be.

Senior Minister: This role is open to men only, reflecting Emmanuel’s understanding of biblical teaching concerning the office of Senior Minister. This is an occupational requirement under the provisions of the Equality Act 2010 relating to employment for the purposes of an organised religion.

Associate Minister: This role is open to men and women. We warmly encourage applications from suitably gifted and called candidates of either sex.

Senior Minister – Shepherd-Leader

We are seeking a servant-hearted, authentic Senior Minister whose ministry flows from a vibrant, personal relationship with God. You will provide overall spiritual and pastoral leadership, lead our staff and Leadership Team, deliver biblically grounded preaching, and act as a visible ambassador for Emmanuel in the wider community.

Our ideal candidate will:

  • Lead with Vision: Discern the “next season” for Emmanuel and collaboratively develop strategic growth.
  • Equip the Body: Passionately believe in “every-member-ministry”, empowering others to use their spiritual and practical gifts.
  • Shepherd with Heart: Be strongly committed to fostering a culture of discipleship and pastoral care, particularly through overseeing our Life Group network.
  • Inspire Mission: Lead, inspire and equip every member to build meaningful relationships where they live, work and play, and so expand our missional heartbeat.

Salary: £42,000 per annum plus pension contributions
Location: Fleetwood, Lancashire
Hours: 40 hours per week

Associate Minister – Complementary Ministry Leadership

We are also seeking an Associate Minister who will play a significant leadership role within the life and ministry of Emmanuel. Working alongside the Senior Minister and wider Leadership Team, you will take significant leadership responsibility across a number of our key ministry priorities, shaped by your gifts, calling and experience.

This is not simply a supporting role. We are looking for someone who will bring their own leadership, initiative and ministry gifts to strengthen and develop key areas of church life, while working collaboratively as part of the wider ministry team.

Our ideal candidate will:

  • Lead from their Gifts: Bring clear gifts, calling and experience that can strengthen particular areas of Emmanuel’s ministry.
  • Build Community: Help develop a culture in which people belong, grow as disciples and care for one another, including through Life Groups and missional communities.
  • Equip People: Encourage and develop volunteers and emerging leaders, helping more people discover and use their gifts in ministry.
  • Strengthen Mission: Help Emmanuel engage creatively and faithfully with our local community and equip the church for everyday mission.

The precise areas of responsibility will be shaped around the successful candidate’s gifts, calling and experience, alongside the needs of the church and the complementary strengths of the wider ministry team.

Salary: £35,000 per annum plus pension contributions
Location: Fleetwood, Lancashire
Hours: 40 hours per week
