Worship at Emmanuel

The people of Emmanuel have always loved to sing; declaring the life-giving message of the Gospel. Worship unites us, inspires us and is a wonderful, uplifting way in which we can express our love for God.

We believe that when we worship together we enter into the very presence of God. Here, at the heart of our worship, we want to express our devotion in an honest way.  We may use Celtic songs, traditional hymns as well as bold and energetic worship songs and reflective quiet melodies to do this.  We also write our own songs inspired through the current teaching of our ministers and we encourage open times of worship where we create our own personal response to God. This fusion of different styles of worship reflects who we are as a congregation; different – yet all united through our faith in Jesus Christ.

We have a large worship team of different ages, traditions, backgrounds and nationalities. Our worship is accompanied by acoustic, electric and bass guitar, keyboard, drums and percussion. Words are displayed on a large overhead screen so that hymn books are no longer needed.

When you visit Emmanuel you can expect sung worship for about 15 minutes at the beginning of the service and a further more reflective time of worship after the sermon during which time there is also opportunity for prayer with others as a response.

Deborah Johnson is married to Ian, together they have 3 grown-up children. She leads the music and worship team at Emmanuel.
